Global Justice Boutique

There are amazing organizations all over the world who are relentlessly working to help others find hope, joy and freedom. Many of them sell beautiful handmade products, oftentimes in creative partnership with those whom they serve. Unfortunately, most of these organizations and their products remain largely undiscovered.

Our vision for the Global Justice Boutique is to identify and partner with some of these incredible people and organizations and do all that we can to support them and the crucial work they do. In offering their beautiful products to the people of Lexington (and the surrounding area), we have the privilege of financially supporting their work. Equally as importantly, we aim to raise awareness around the vital work that they do -with hopes that others will be stirred to join in the fight as well.

We are located inside one of my very favorite places to meet and work in the city: Brevede Coffee in the Lexington Distillery District! As business owners with a heart for God and their community, Viorika and Nik Kopets have graciously allowed us to call their space home. This is such an incredible way to start - minimal overhead expenses, a beautiful location, and a space that already welcomes a steady flow of generous customers.

Brevede is a one of a kind specialty coffeeshop driven by a passion for community building through handcrafted quality coffee, baked goods, workshops and events. As passionate as the Brevede team is about coffee and making an excellent product with high-quality beans, the coffee aspect is always second to them. They love being able to open up to the community as a place for people to come together. In partnering with Brevede, we will be able to help make a difference in the lives of people around the globe.

What's so different about our products?

Our products come from a variety of countries and organizations. Several of our purchasing partners serve individuals who have been victims of trafficking or who are at risk of human trafficking and/or exploitation. Others equip individuals with practical skillsets in order to help them break free from debilitating poverty. Some are organizationally small, while others are larger in size. As a result, the nature of our relationships with them vary. However, we consider it a blessing to work with each of them.  They are driven by Love and have devoted themselves to fighting injustice.

Our model is simple. We purchase products directly from these organizations, and in doing so, we directly support their organizational missions. When you purchase products from our store, you make more room on our shelves for us to purchase more products from them. The more we sell, the more we are able to support their crucial work. Each one of your purchases truly makes a significant difference.

     Our Contributing Artists

In addition to the above partners, we will also be featuring work from local artists. These artists will be donating a portion of their sales to specific justice/compassion ministries. Check out our growing list of contributing artists below!

What kinds of products do we carry?

We carry goods sourced from our organizational and artist partners as well as other compassion ministries across the globe--bringing you jewelry, handmade goods, artisanal decor, and more.

Why sell products? Isn’t it more efficient to just donate directly to these ministries and organizations?

Hopefully, you're already supporting good work through your local church or other organizations. But the difficult reality is that Americans, on average, possess more financial wealth than most people in the world. We have the ability to buy things for ourselves and for others that many in the world will never be able to afford. For many years, we wrestled with guilt over this fact. We found ourselves continually resenting the inequality. However, this response wasn’t a fruitful one for us. We've come to the conclusion that the best response to this reality is to steward what we've been given to the very best of our ability.

Our hope is that this boutique will serve a multi-faceted purpose. We want to sell beautiful items - products that bring beauty to the places they go and truly bless the recipients. But at the same time, we want to intentionally harness some of the wealth in our city for the spreading of the good news of God’s extravagant love. We have been blessed to be a blessing, and our desire is to wholeheartedly live according to this truth.
